EEG has been providing Terra Industries, Inc. (TII) with analytical services since EEG's first year of business. This ongoing relationship prompted TII to ask for EEG's guidance when TII made the business decision to close one of its plants in Northeast Arkansas. EEG was contracted by TII to perform a plant-wide asbestos survey that encompassed a 15-acre fertilizer production plant.
EEG collected more than 1,000 bulk samples of various types of insulation to adequately characterize the facility's asbestos containing materials (ACM). Once the survey and marking of the ACM was complete, EEG solicited remediation firms for the abatement of all ACM. EEG then oversaw the remediation effort to a successful conclusion.
EEG also worked with Terra Industries Inc. to complete a larger project in Louisiana. The project consisted of the initial performance of an inspection to identify any asbestos-containing materials, project design, project management and daily air monitoring services. The abatement portion of this project consisted of approximately 10 acres of piping and vessels containing multiple types of asbestos-containing materials and was completed over a 7-month period.
